Shipping Restrictions regarding Black Powder and Percussion Caps

Black powder is classified by as an explosive by the federal government.  It may not be shipped by mail or air-carriers.  We do NOT ship black powder or percussion caps to destinations Outside of Alaska.

Black powder may be purchased by appointment from our Trading "House" in Two Rivers or may be delivered to our customers anywhere within the Fairbanks North Star Borough outside the city limits of Fairbanks, at a mutually convenient time.  We can also deliver black powder at the muzzleloader shooting matches, historical rendezvous and other events we attend.  Contact us by any method to make an appointment to purchase black powder.

Black powder purchased in 25lb. case lots can be shipped by truck to most communities on the highway system or the Marine Highway System in Alaska.  In this case the cost of shipping will be billed collect to the customer.  Although it is a Federal felony to sell even a single pound of powder without a BATF explosives dealer license, it is allowable for members of a club or groups of friends to combine their orders to meet the case-lot requirement for shipping.

Federal law allows unlicensed individuals to possess no more than 50 pounds of commercially manufactured black powder for use in antique firearms or replicas and reproductions of antique firearms for hunting, sporting or cultural purposes only.  Any other use of black powder is a felony.  Local ordinances may further restrict the possession and storage of black powder,  It is your responsibility to know and obey local statutes and regulations.
